Group Classes
Your First Class at Kinetic Haus

Walking into a gym for the first time is the hard part. Here is a plain account of what happens at Kinetic Haus on the day of your first class, so you arrive knowing how the hour runs and what is expected of you, which is very little.
Booking the first one
Your first class is free. You do not need a membership to take it and you do not need to speak to anyone in advance. The schedule runs on bsport and opens from the Book a class button at the top of any page, or from the booking panel on the classes page. Choose a format, choose a time, reserve the spot.
If you would rather see what follows the free class before you book it, every plan is published on the pricing page: a 14 day unlimited pass at $79, three monthly memberships, a $30 drop in and two class packs. None of it is required on day one, and nobody will chase you about it in the room.
Where we are, and when to turn up
The Haus is at 107 Orfus Rd, Toronto, M6A 1M4, in the Yorkdale area of North York, and it is reachable by major highway and by public transit. Doors are open Monday to Friday from 6am to 9pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 6pm, so most people can find a class on either side of a working day.
Give yourself ten or fifteen minutes before the start time on a first visit. That is enough to find the door, put your things down, meet the coach and tell them anything they should know. If a shoulder is cranky, if you are pregnant, if you had surgery last year, if you have not trained in a decade, say so then. It changes how you are cued and what you are offered once the session starts, and it is an ordinary conversation here rather than an awkward one.
What a 60 minute class actually looks like
Every format runs 60 minutes and every class is capped at 16 people. The cap is the point of the whole model. It is the difference between a coach who is watching you and a coach who is counting you, and in a room of 16 the coach running the hour can see your first repetition, correct it, and come back to you twenty minutes later.
The shape of the hour is consistent across the schedule. A coached warm up prepares the positions the session is going to ask for. A short teaching block covers the main movements, with the loading options shown side by side so you can pick before you are tired rather than after. Then the main work, then a finisher or a cool down depending on the format. You are told what to do at every step and you are not expected to arrive knowing the vocabulary.
Ten formats run here and they are not the same class under different names. IRON STRONG is maximal strength work with heavier loading and lower repetitions. STAMINA+ is conditioning led. POWERHAUS pairs heavy compound movement with explosive power work. CORE X is lower impact and movement based, built around breath, coordination and control. VINYASA, POWERFLOW HIIT, YOGA BEATS and VIN YIN cover the yoga side, from breath linked flow to interval work to long hold yin. (RE)INTRO and HYROX CODE are the specialty formats. Full descriptions of all ten sit on the classes page.
If you are brand new, or coming back from a break
(RE)INTRO exists for this exact situation. It is built for anyone returning to movement after an injury, after time away, or starting from scratch, and it is coached and scaled by design rather than as an afterthought. It is a sensible first booking if the idea of a strength class is the thing that has been keeping you out.
If you are working around current pain or a recent injury, a group class is not the place to work out what is going on. Our therapy team is in the same building, and an assessment first appointment through the clinic can tell you what to load and what to leave alone for now. Coaches and therapists here work from the same plan, which is the practical reason the two sit under one roof.
What to bring
- Training shoes with a flat, stable sole. Anything you can stand and squat in comfortably will do.
- Clothes you can move in, plus a layer for the warm up.
- A water bottle.
- A towel, particularly for the conditioning and yoga formats.
- Nothing else. Equipment and mats are here.
There is no dress code and no assumed fitness level. Members turn up in what they own.
Afterwards, and what usually comes next
Expect to finish tired in a satisfied way rather than wrecked. A reasonable general guideline for anyone starting out is to leave a couple of repetitions in reserve for the first few sessions and let the load climb across weeks rather than within a single hour. Some muscle soreness a day or two later is common when a movement is new to you and it usually settles on its own. Sharp pain, or pain in a joint, is a different signal and worth raising with your coach or with the clinic rather than training through.
If the class landed, the common next step is the 14 day unlimited pass, which buys you two weeks to try several formats before choosing anything monthly. Members and 15 Pack holders also receive a complimentary 30 minute recovery session with the therapy team, and every member can bring a friend for their first class free. The plans are on the pricing page and anything else can go to info@kinetichaus.com or +1 (416) 782-2002.
