Therapy & Clinic
Osteopathy, Athletic Therapy or Physio?

Four of the eight services in the Kinetic Haus clinic involve a practitioner putting hands on you, and from the outside they can look interchangeable. They are not. Here is what each one is, what the other four services cover, and a plain way to choose the appointment to book when you are not sure.
Start with the question, not the profession
Most people choose a therapy because a friend recommended one. A more useful starting point is what you want the appointment to answer. Do you need to know what is going on and what to do about it? Do you have a known injury and need a plan to get back to sport? Are you recovering from an operation, working to a surgeon's protocol? Do you want soft tissue work so you can train more consistently? Those point at different services.
The clinic is assessment-first in every case, and the sequence is the same across the team: assess, plan, train, recover. A thorough movement assessment and intake to understand your history, your pain and your goals. An individualised treatment and training plan built around your timeline. Guided rehabilitation and progressive strength work with the coaching team. Then a return to sport and to ordinary life with a plan to keep you there. The four steps are set out on the clinic page.
The four hands-on services
Osteopathy
A whole-body manual approach that treats the root cause rather than the site of the symptom. Our osteopathic manual practitioners assess how your joints, fascia, viscera and your lymphatic, circulatory and nervous systems interact, then use hands-on techniques to restore mobility and function. Worth booking when the problem is diffuse, when it moves around, or when a single region approach has not accounted for it.
Athletic therapy
Assessment-first care built for active bodies. The therapist identifies the movement fault behind your pain, treats the tissue, and rebuilds capacity with a progressive plan that runs from acute injury back to full-speed sport. Worth booking when the problem showed up in training or in a game and the goal is to get back on the field.
Physiotherapy
Assessment-led care for injury, pain and post-operative recovery. The driver of your symptoms is identified, range and strength are restored through hands-on treatment and targeted exercise, and you are progressed back to full function against a clear plan. Worth booking when there is a specific injury or an operation behind the problem.
Massage therapy
Registered massage therapy aimed at recovery and performance rather than relaxation alone. Deep tissue work, soft tissue release and targeted techniques that reduce tension, improve circulation and support more consistent training. Most people use it as maintenance alongside a training block, or alongside another service rather than instead of one.
The four programme services
The other four are less about one hour on a table and more about the weeks that follow it. All four are described on the clinic page alongside the hands-on work.
Injury rehabilitation is a structured return-to-strength plan for the weeks and months after an injury. Your therapist and coach work from the same playbook, progressing load intelligently so you rebuild confidence in the movement, not just in the tissue.
Post-op care and rehab is guided recovery following surgery, coordinated with your surgeon's protocol and managed in phases, protection, mobility, strength and return to activity, so nothing is rushed and nothing is missed.
Concussion management is evidence-informed care from an initial assessment through a graded return to play, monitoring symptoms, vestibular and ocular function, and exertion tolerance.
Cranio-sacral and visceral work covers gentle, precise techniques, including visceral manipulation and muscle energy work, for restrictions that have not responded to conventional treatment.
If you still are not sure
Book an assessment and let the practitioner sort it out. That is what a first appointment is for, and it is a more reliable filter than any website. The team is small and works in one room, so if you land with the wrong service you get moved rather than sent away. Mary Lalancette, our Clinic Director, is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, Certified Athletic Therapist and RMT. Tina Szeto is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner and Athletic Therapist. Dr. Jess Pontarollo is our physiotherapist. Their backgrounds sit on the team page, and you can book with a named practitioner if you already know who you want to see.
Nothing on this page is advice about your particular problem and none of it replaces an assessment. It is a description of what each service is, so that the first appointment is a better one.
